Drama for Adults

We deliver drama with kindness to help you thrive!

For adults, thriving often revolves around managing the stresses of day-to-day life and maintaining healthy relationships with those around us.

Our Adult Programme can help you in a number of ways:

  • Increased Confidence
Drama helps you to understand how to appraise situations, think outside-the-box and be more confident going into unfamiliar situations.
  • Improved Communication
Drama improves your verbal and non-verbal communication. It helps you with vocal projection, articulation, tone of speech and expression and also develops your listening and observation skills.
  • Increased Empathy
Understanding characters, roles and the subtext of plays allows you to relate better to different situations, backgrounds, and cultures. It also encourages you to show compassion and tolerance for others.
  • Outlet for Self-Expression
Drama allows you to express a range of emotions and encourages you to understand and deal with similar feelings you may be experiencing. You can release aggression, tension, sadness and more in a safe, controlled environment – often allowing for a period of reflection afterwards.
  • Outlet for Stress Relief
Play is fun and can trigger the release of endorphins, your body’s natural feel-good chemicals!
  • Improved Concentration
Playing, practicing, and performing help to focus your mind, body, and voice.
  • More Creative Thinking
Being creative and learning to make creative choices during drama activities helps you to become better at thinking of new ideas, allowing you to view problems in new ways.
  • Improved Memory
Whilst we don’t require you to learn lines (as you read from scripts), the memory is a muscle and weekly readings help keep it agile.
  • Fun
Drama is all about play – not something adults get to do enough! Dramatis sessions will soon get you laughing!
  • Appreciation for Arts and Culture
Dramatis sessions allow you to explore plays and literature in a different way, often bringing a new appreciation and enjoyment for texts you thought you were familiar with.

Our Adult Programme removes the pressure of learning lines and performing on stages. Instead, we run two sociable and relaxed groups for those looking to explore the world of acting in a different way:

Act Your Age is our (in-person) adult drama group for those who are interested in exploring drama through script reading and creative play.

Plays and Pinot is our (online) play-reading group for those who enjoy books and literature and who are interested in exploring modern and classic plays with other people.
